The Spectral Analysis Series

This images are derived from dreams I had when I was a child. The seventies was a very influential time for me. Growing up in places like Hawaii, images of these "waves of color" inundated me. It was these colors that made remembering them, my eternal waking dream. From patterns on paper cups to walls in arcades, the colors stayed with me. Every once in awhile I see these colors and am immediately transported back to my youth. It was this reason that I created this series. My hope is that colors will act as triggers for those, like me, who remember things.

The Elements Series

I had no choice given the subject of my latest pieces, to name this series The Elements. It's images of Land, Air,Water Fire all given an abstract makeover. I'm learning just how into graphic art I am, as I do these series. Straight lines with a brush are a bitch, but I'm learning. I figure if I can achieve that graphic look with a brush then I'm one step ahead of the game.

Making those tiny moves again. Got inspired and bought some paint and brushes. I think I have an idea what direction these next few pieces are going to go, but don't hold me too it. I keep seeing bold color and flat imagery. Like a Schim Schimmel or Wyland version of Murakami. We will see what happens.

I've come up with so many ideas for short stories and films, but have felt tremendously limited, when it came down to the funds to create what torments me. So much begging for something I believe to be great...so I am on a mission. I have a reasonable amount of artistic skill so maybe I could create these stories on my own and never have to compromise my vision. I'm 39...I turn 40 in December, I'm giving myself a few years to be up to par and to have something I would deem worthy to be sold. I'm gonna start a youtube chronicling my journey. I have so many irons in the pot right now, but creating stories whether they be on film or in a book, has always been a desire of mine for a very very long time. I am inspired by so many really good artist and writers, but instead of mimicking, I need to just start drawing. Carrying around a sketch book wherever I go. At least that's what I saw so many people in NY doing. Let me stop talking. I will holla at you guys again when the Youtube site is up. Any critiques from some of my PRO friends on Deviant would be greatly appreciated.
